Honey Maple Pancakes with Fruit Sauce recipe

Here's a romantic spin on a very traditional breakfast choiceyou don't have to go out of your way to tell them you care.

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
1 egg, lightly beaten
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Sauce:
1 cup berry jam
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon butter

Preparation Instructions:

1) Make the sauce: Combine jam, honey, and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until smooth, whisking, about 3 minutes. Keep warm on low.

2) Make the pancakes: In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and melted butter. Add to flour mixture; stir until almost smooth.

3) Heat a nonstick skillet over medium. For each pancake, pour ¼ cup batter onto skillet; cook until golden on each side, about 4 minutes total. Repeat with remaining batter.

4) Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut hearts out of pancakes. Pour warm fruit sauce over heart shapes and serve.
